Kip&Co x JUMBLED

We are SO thrilled to launch our Kip&Co x JUMBLED collaboration! A limited edition tableware edit, just in time for some summer entertaining, that features the MOST incredible, original floral artwork by the very talented Kezz Brett.

First, a quick intro to JUMBLED for anyone who has missed that bright happy rainbow memo. JUMBLED is, hands down, one of the best interiors stores in Australia (and has been with us since our VERY first range back in 2012) - but it’s SO much more than a shop. Driven by the pocket rocket powerhouse Pip, and her amazing team, the store has become what we call a happiness hub - sharing joyful things for the home, positive vibes, a podcast, the huddle (an all female business event), and an incredibly engaged and supportive social community.

One of Pip’s secret weapons is her mum, Kezz. Pip has an eye for emerging, and established artists, and encouraged her mum to put her beautiful art into JUMBLED. Fast forward a few years and Kezz is now one of her most sought after artists, creating incredibly beautiful art that makes your heart sing. Read today’s blog to find out more about Kezz’s inspiring story and tips for budding artists.

The Kip&Co x JUMBLED collaboration combines Kezz’s gorgeous floral artwork with our favourite tableware pieces in 100% French flax linen. It’s enough to make us want to pop a bottle of something fizzy and get our al fresco dining on right now!

Kezz Brett - Artist

How long have you been an artist?

I’ve been painting full time for six years now - starting when I retired. When I say full time, I really mean full time. I’m OBSESSED!

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as halfway between abstract and realism… with lots of colour!

What's the inspiration for this artwork?

I LOVE flowers - I love absolutely everything about them! The colours, the structures - especially the perfume! Happiness to me is a garden full of flowers!

What's your career highlight?

Is it corny to say this collaboration? I am just so thrilled to have my artwork on the dining table! I’m also just so lucky to be working with JUMBLED -  if it wasn’t for them, my retirement would be a lot more peaceful!

What's your best piece of advice for any budding artist?

Start! Don’t wait - start before you’re ready. You’ll never think you’re ready and you’ll never think you’re good enough but it’s all about brush mileage. The more mileage, the better you become!

What's your favourite medium?

House paints! You can throw them around, and Bunnings has an amazing collection! I’ve also been having a lot of fun lately with neon pink spray paint!

Pip Brett - Creative Genius

Tell us how this collaboration can about?

I’ve been a Kip & Co stockist right from the start - they launched their first collection at the same time that I opened Jumbled! It has been a long held dream of mine to collaborate with Kip and Co as we are both colour, pattern loving die hards. The stars aligned and magic happened!

For those who might not know, tell us how Kezz fits into the Jumbled family and how you guys choose the right artwork together?

Kezz Brett is my Mum! We currently live together while we build my new house (sorry Mum!) so we spend a lot of time together! My bedroom is right next to her studio - I love watching her paint and seeing the artworks come to life.

We absolutely love the photo shoot! It's a little spring wonderland. Tell us a bit about the inspiration and what's involved in pulling together such a gorgeous shoot.

It was such a dream and we’re so proud of this photo shoot. It was the most magical location, a huge blossom tree on the banks of the Macquarie River. It was the perfect backdrop to the shoot. Watching Mum paint under a canopy of blossoms was incredible, and our afternoon tea in the sun was the icing on the cake (literally).

You started out with a fashion store, but these days Jumbled really defies definition, it's just a hub of happiness! What have been your guiding principles for your growth and where to next?

That is so kind and exactly what I was aiming for! Happiness and joy is exactly what I want for The Sonic - it’s everything I love, all under one roof! Home, fashion and coffee - what else does a girl need? (maybe a bar!) Merging our two stores together was the best decision and gave us the opportunity to really refine our offering. I only want to stock things that set my heart on fire!

You personally have become a beacon for strong female business owners and a built a community to inspire others. Can you tell us a bit about how that side of your business has evolved? (Eg your poddy and the huddle)

As the business has evolved over the years, it’s allowed me the space and the opportunity to explore all of my passion points. I’ve always been incredibly passionate about small business and in particular the story of women and how they are creating some amazing businesses for themselves and their families. My podcast, JUMBLED LOVES-A-CHAT, allows me to dive into people’s origin stories and really find out how they got to where they are today. It is a total privilege and so special in this day and age of everyone rushing around, to sit down with someone that I admire for an hour and go over their life and business story. It is so inspiration. Sometimes it is just one thing that someone says that has the potential to transform your business or life. Each week I stress about trying to fit in a time to record the podcast and I threaten that I will throw the towel in….but then each week I get to chat to someone incredible and my LOVE for the poddy is renewed! I am so lucky!

The Huddle was a total dream come true. It had been playing on my mind for few years, but I didn’t have the confidence yet. Then our region was experiencing the worst drought on record and we felt like we needed to do something more meaningful and helpful. I have always been a believer in strong businesses creating strong communities – so it became our idea that inspiring and empowering the kick-arse business women of regional Australia would be our aim. Having 450 women in our town of Orange for a weekend is one of my life highlights.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?

Enjoying living in my new house that we are just about to complete PLUS exploring what our amazing country has to offer!
